Full Description: Interviewing Techniques for Fire Investigators
This course is designed to provide fire investigators with the skills and knowledge to conduct effective interviews with witnesses, suspects, and other involved parties in fire investigation cases.

The course covers the following topics:
• The legal issues related to interviewing in fire investigations.
• The types and sources of information that can be obtained from interviews.
• Preparation and planning for interviews.
• The methods and techniques of interviewing, including rapport building, questioning, listening, observing, and documenting.
• The challenges and strategies of interviewing.
• The use and evaluation of visual aids and other tools in interviews.

The course combines lectures and class exercises to enhance the learning experience. The course is suitable for fire investigators of all levels of experience who want to improve their interviewing skills and knowledge.

The course is an 8-hour course and does not require any pre-course assignments or readings.

Reporting Instructions: Class will begin at 8:30 AM and end at 4:30 PM (Est.) The course will be held at the IFD Training Academy located at 9050 E 33rd Street in Indianapolis. Please bring the proper note taking materials.
