Brief Description: Provides firefighting personnel with knowledge/skills to meet the standards set out in NFPA 1041.

Full Description: The purpose of the Instructor II/III course is to provide senior Instructors with the knowledge and skills to meet the minimum job performance requirements as outlined in NFPA 1041. The course is designed for the Fire Service Instructor who, in addition to meeting Instructor I qualifications, wants to develop the knowledge and ability to develop individual lesson plans for a specific topic including learning objectives, instructional aids, and evaluation instruments; schedule training sessions based on overall training plan of the authority having jurisdiction; and supervise and coordinate the activities of other instructors. Major topics covered in the course are planning instruction, the process for planning and training management; needs analysis; course objectives; task analysis; lesson plan components; formats; creating, modifying, adapting, and using lesson plans; testing and evaluation; management and supervision of training; policies, records, scheduling, and standards; recruiting and selecting instructors; and budget and resource management. This course also prepares candidates to manage a department training program that includes risk management and budgeting duties. Candidates will be expected to perform an instructional presentation to an audience.

Prerequisites: Must possess either Fire Instructor I or First Class Instructor
Reported 30 hours of instructional or evaluation time.

Resources Required: In order to test for and receive a Fire Instructor II/III Certification you must provide us with a copy of 30 hours of instructional or evaluation time. An Instructor Recertification Form has been added to the documents for this course. You may use this to turn in the 30 hour requirement.

State Practical on February 3rd and state written on February 5th
