Brief Description: Provides mid-level officer/supervisor with information and skills to meet the min. JPRs in NFPA 1021

Full Description: This course is designed to give mid-level fire officers with the knowledge and skills to meet the minimum job performance requirements as outlined in based on NFPA 1021: Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. The course is designed for the Fire Officer who is ready to assume more of a leadership role by moving into the middle management level of his/her department. This course expands on the knowledge base attained in Fire Officer I by revisiting some of the same subjects and adding additional material including Management, Government Structure, Departmental Budget Planning and Management, Human Resource Management, Community and Government Relations, Administration, Inspections and Investigations, Emergency Service Delivery, along with Health and Safety.
Candidates must be self-motivated and possess the skills and abilities to function independently.

Candidates must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to function safely and effectively as a Fire Officer II. Candidates should expect to spend time outside of class to complete the required exercises as well as prepare for the written and practical examinations.

Resources Required: You must be certified as a Fire Officer I before you will be issued a testing ID. If you do not meet this prerequisite by the time testing ID's are issued, you will not be issued the testing ID.

Firefighting gear is not required for the class but old clothes, gloves and work boots are recommended for the practical activity. Students are encouraged to bring personal cameras for use in the practical activity.
