Brief Description: Provides fire personnel basic knowledge/skills in Rope Rescue Operations as defined in NFPA 1670.

Full Description: Rope Operations is designed to give fire service personnel the basic knowledge and skills to safely perform ropes and rigging for rope rescue as defined by NFPA 1670, Operations and Training for Technical Rescue Incidents, 1999 Edition. This course is to prepare local responders to operate as a local member of a Rope Rescue Operations Team. This course provides those personnel with the basic knowledge and skills needed to perform rescues using rope systems. The class will cover the use of rope, rope equipment, hardware, construction of mechanical advantage systems, belay and safety systems, anchor systems, and patient packaging.

Prerequisites: Shall have been an Indiana First Responder or above
Must have Technical Rescue Awareness Certification

Resources Required: Check with instructor and lead evaluator as: Firefighting gear may be required for the class, but if not then old clothes, gloves and work boots are recommended for the practical activity. Students are encouraged to bring personal cameras for use in the practical activity.
